I view myself as an artist who used my skill to become a scientist. I owe my artistic training to my Biological Visualization program at Rhode Island College, as well as attending a visual arts high school. My work has featured on the cover for the Journal of Neuroscience, as logos for the SIMCoast research project in the state of Rhode Island, and as murals throughout Rhode Island College campus.

I use my art as an extension of my biomechanics research. Artistic methodology has aided in my dissection and understanding of spiny dogfish sharks, and has allowed me a unique insight into the science world.

Biological Visualization is the future of research. Using fine arts training and combining research ideas with artistic ones, the field of science is more accessible to more people. Scientific art helps make science more approachable to those with learning differences, different language backgrounds, visual learners, and many others.
